Let the Resolutions Begin!

I’m feeling crazy this week, so I’m making all kinds of New Year’s Resolutions for 2012. Most of them revolve around organization or being organized. I haven’t fleshed them all out, but here are the basics:

Organize:

  1. Nicholas’ closet,
  2. Our closet,
  3. My scrapbooking area,
  4. Kitchen pantry,
  5. Laundry area,
  6. Hall closet,
  7. Storage unit,
  8. Linen closet,
  9. Email (I have more than 700 unopened emails sitting in my inbox),
  10. Finances,
  11. Calendars (editorial and exercise),
  12. Chore chart, and
  13. Photos

Here’s what I want to accomplish: donating clothing items to my local hospital, donating phones to my local shelter, knowing the medicine we have in our cabinet (and getting rid of old stuff), committing to exercising, not having any overdraft charges, be move-out ready or downsize to a smaller storage unit, back-up photos for 2011, back-up photos monthly, set up kids’ doctors appointments for the year, quickly scrapbook T’s first year, and feel more relaxed.

Are you making resolutions for 2012? Feel like sharing?

  1. Sherry, that’s quite an ambitious list. I wish I had the motivation to get organized like that. We have some of the same areas in the house that need a lot of organizing attention.

I particularly like your inclusion of the editorial calendar. I made one last summer in anticipation of the new school year for work and it has made such a difference in how our communication department tackles projects. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your organizathon. Cheers.

    1. Richie~You’re right, it is an ambitious list. But, everything is going on the calendar (can you have an editorial calendar for cleaning closets too?) I’m implementing editorial calendars for work, so I thought I’d do them for my personal writing as well. I feel like Oprah…you get an editorial calendar, and you get an editorial calendar! Everyone gets an editorial calendar!

  2. How can you be from my loins? I know I used to be fair in the orginazational department but you make me proud! My skills have dropped into the Grand canyon or maybe the Marianna Trench. What I would give for more closet and storage spaces. I would build a house with a walk in closet in each bedroom, with organizers, storage closet at entrance, coats etc., a pantry with organizers, bathroom linen closet, big. So my baby girl, win the lottery so I can make you proud!! Resolutions, never make them cause I have only suceeded once in keeping them. I stopped biting my finglenails many, many years ago. Good luck and the forces be with you!!

  3. Hi Sherry! I just popped over from the BlissDom Ice Breaker link up. This will be my first BlissDom and I’m excited and a little nervous.

I don’t usually make New Year’s Resolutions, instead I create and modify goals throughout the year. This year I’m trying something new and I chose a one word goal for the year. The idea behind the one word goal is choosing a word that inspires what I want to attract in my life.

For 2012, my goal word is RELEASE! I am practicing releasing myself from limiting thoughts and behaviors such as complaining, comparing, over-committing, overindulging and anything that distracts me from living a great life.

I hope to meet you at BlissDom! Have a grateful day!

    1. Chrysta,

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m super excited too, and hope to get to meet you. I love your goal word! All of those things are behaviors I need to work on as well. I can’t wait to see how you do it. I’m guessing we’ll get some tips in the sessions at Blissdom 🙂
