The Hair is Gone!

I had really short hair for about a dozen years with a brief longish period when I got married the first time so I could wear it up. But, for the most part, my hair was in a pixie cut or not much longer. From 2007 until now the shortest it’s been has been a short bob, just a bit longer than chin length. The past 6 months or so, it started happening again. I started just putting it up in a messy ponytail or knot. This isn’t that big a deal on the weekends, but for the office? Not so polished looking. So I chopped it off in September. Nowhere near the inch-long pixie cut I’ve had in the past, but the amazing Danika cut off about 10 inches or so.

I love my short hair because I’m lazy. I had to do way more to my longer hair to make it look decent (hence the headbands and ponytails). With my short hair, I can wash it, throw some mousse in it and go. I get a lot of compliments on it from women. William, because he is a very smart man, compliments me every time I get it cut. Nicholas has asked me several times since I first cut it in September how long it will take for my hair to grow back. Tobin doesn’t seem to care. So, of the boys who voiced an opinion in my home, it’s approved by half…and the other half is not very impressed.

Hair, for me, is something that I’ve always been okay having the way I want without worrying much about what others thought. Except for the time the neighbor girl shaved a triangle in my otherwise very long hair when I was in the 5th grade. And then, I was only worried about how much trouble I’d get in from my Grandmother when she discovered it. Otherwise, I thought it was Rad. Because it was 1985 and the closest I’d ever get to looking like Cindi Lauper.

What’s the weirdest or worst style you’ve ever done to your hair? What’s your favorite?

  1. Hmm hard diccission. If I must choose between the photo circa 2008 and the last photo I choose the 2008ish. Long hair looks great on you.

  2. I LOVE the short one! The long is nice, but you are right about it looking more polished. I haven’t had my hair short in 5 years and I just told my stylist that when I hit my next weight loss goal(only 8 more pounds!!!) we’re gonna chop it off! 🙂 I am wearing WAY too many ponytails right now.

    1. Congratulations on the healthy results, that’s awesome! I love my hair short and I look like a grown up! Except for when I put the front up in a clip to get it out of my eyes…but I never do that at work 🙂
