Pinterest Win: Pool Noodle Bed Bumpers
Our 2-year-old has recently transitioned to a twin bed in her own room (as opposed to our bed sleeping between us when a perfectly good crib with a brand-new mattress was right there since before she was even born). Anyway, when we moved into our new house, Tesla got her own room. And since I am familiar with how much she flails and moves around at night, I knew that I’d feel better if there was a bumper on her bed to keep her from falling out at night.
Originally, the plan was to have the bed against the wall on one side and have a bumper on the other. However, when we put the bed against the wall, there was a toddler-sized gap, so that didn’t work. Then I went on the hunt for bumpers. We had one for both Nicholas and Tobin, but it broke, so we got rid of it. I bring that up because I liked the bumper, but they aren’t cheap and I didn’t want to buy an expensive one for the last kid to use it (tear).
Then Pinterest saved me! Pool noodles to the rescue! I bought two pool noodles (I got the biggest ones I could find because in my mind that meant safer?) for $4 each. All you have to do is place the pool noodles on either side of the bed, under the fitted sheet. As it turns out, Tesla’s sheets are a little loose, so the noodles don’t stay as well as I’d like. However, she hasn’t fallen out of the bed yet!

I recently read Parent Hacks: 134 Genius Shortcuts for Life with Kids and there are several hacks using pool noodles and this was one of them. Smart people are smarter than me with this hack stuff. Unrelated to pool noodles, this book has some great hacks, y’all!
What is your favorite hack?
