10 Months Post VSG Check-In!

Double digits since my surgery you guys! I forgot to post last month, so if you were on pins and needles waiting for that, I apologize. Let me tell you, it might be more that I have been really frustrated, so maybe I didn’t “forget” to post as much as I just didn’t feel like writing about it. I’ve plateued and then started gaining, so to say I’m frustrated is an understatement. However, I know it was because of eating all the sweets. Like, in the world. I don’t know how there was any Halloween candy left for the actual night. So.

Having said all that, I will tell you about two cool things. First, I now work at the headquarters of my oragnization, so every now and then I see someone from the office in which I worked before we moved to DFW. Last week, I got to see a wonderful colleague that I haven’t seen in almost two years. She and I saw each other almost every single work day for 7 years. I was walking through our lobby, and saw her outside a meeting room. I called her name and walked over for a hug. She had no idea who I was. I had to say, “Margie, it’s Sherry!” She legit didn’t recognize me, so that was very cool. As I have said before, it’s so very easy to forget where you’ve been,  how far you’ve come. The second cool thing that happened in the last week or so was getting my monthly report from the fitness tracker I use. In October, I only skipped workouts 4 days in the entire month. You guys, I haven’t been that consistent with exercise since high school. Some days it was 30 minutes, some days it was 2 hours (I like to take long walks on the weekends).

I’m holding those two wins close to my heart right now. I’ve also kicked in body weight strength training workouts (I started this weekend). I’m still going to do cardio, mainly in the way of walking on my lunch hours, but I’m hoping that working my muscles more directly will not only help me see more movement in the inches, but also change things up in my body. I’m also going to look at my fitness tracker and look at the impact of any sweets I want *before* I eat them to see what it would be instead of doing it after and then feeling badly.

Okay, that’s enough for now. Here are stats (for the last two months):

  • Before VSG, I was 300 pounds and my measurements totaled 361.75 inches.
  • My 1-month post-op numbers were: 266 pounds and 330 inches.
  • My 2-month post-op numbers are: 250 pounds and  316.5 inches.
  • My 3-month post-op numbers are: 237 pounds and 304 inches.
  • My 4-month post-op numbers are: 230 pounds and 297.5 inches.
  • My 5-month post-op numbers are: 228 pounds and 296 inches.
  • My 6-month post-op numbers are: 221 and 289.25 inches.
  • My 7-month post-op numbers are: 216 pounds and 283.75 inches.
  • My 8-month post-op numbers are: 214 pounds and 280.5 inches.
  • My 9-month post op numbers are: 214 pounds and 282.75 inches
  • My 10-month post-op numbers are: 217 pounds and 280.25 inches
  • So, I’m down 83 pounds and 81.50 inches!

This is what a typical day looks like for me nutrition wise:

  • 1 or 2 Premier Protein drinks (typically my breakfast and morning snack),
  • 3 small meals,
  • 100 oz. of liquid (this includes the protein drinks),
  • B-12, calcium, multivitamin, and biotin,
  • 60-80 grams of protein

I’m not going to do pictures in this post. I don’t look any different from the last photo, so you can look there. Next month, no matter how the numbers look, I’ll post a picture. And, remember, I’m not a doctor, this is just an account of my personal experience!
