Get to Know the Cookie Community
One of the things that has made me so happy over the almost-year of me baking decorated sugar cookies is the community around cookies. These folks are some of the nicest most giving people ever! They are give advice, share tips, encourage your work, and offer constructive criticism. Not to mention amazing talent of those whose cutters and other tools you can buy!
Want to learn from people at all levels of cookie making and decorating? There are so many blogs, YouTube channels, FB groups and IG accounts to follow. And then ask questions and read comments. It’s not all rainbows and unicorns, just because someone bakes doesn’t mean they’re awesome. But, for the most part, I have had nothing but lovely encounters with these amazing people.
A few I follow:
Bridget Edwards. I’ve written about her before, and I’m sure I will again. She’s got really clear, easy-to-follow recipes and tips on her blog and she’s lovely on Twitter too!
L.C. Sweets. She makes my favorite heart cutter and other great tools, and posts adorable IG stories about her dogs (and she’s about to have her first baby, so I can’t wait to see the dogs and baby together!)
Laurelea’s Sweet Treats. Laurelea has answered so many questions from me and she makes the sweetest cookies!
And find some FB groups of other bakers. There are a ton, and my favorites are the ones where there is a mix of skill levels. I’ve learned so much from the ones I’m in.
There are so many more people I could list, and I will in the future, but those will get you started!
